To assess and respond to unmet needs of the greater Tucson firefighter community by facilitating access to health and wellness resources, while recognizing the firefighting heritage and culture.
The Greater Tucson Fire Foundation financial status remains positive. Remaining in line with primary mission of firefighter health and wellness; three main killers of firefighters: cardiac, cancer and mental health: The Foundation is supporting fire agencies in the region with maintaining compliment of Peer Fitness Training and fitness equipment. The solicitation went out to Chiefs and Safety Officers. Allocations to Endowment Fund have been made per Boar of Trustee direction.
Fiesta De Los Bomberos at Starr Pass Resort dates have been confirmed as September 19 through 21 with Safety Day on the 19th, Dinner and Silent Auction on the 20th and Golf Outing on the 21st. Registration will be available in near future. Both the dinner and golf sold out last year with over 500 people in attendance at the dinner. Opportunities for sponsorships and other means of supporting the cardiac, cancer and mental health programming needs of our firefighters are available via the FDLB.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Al Ring, the Fire Foundation’s Archivist. Al is undergoing some major medical procedures for which we wish him the best care, recovery and recuperation.
Our thanks to Mr. Edmundo Sevallos for his planning, organization and implementation of March 2, Grateful for 1st Responders tribute event at Reid Park. Many people from the community including City of Tucson Mayor Johnathan Rothschild, attended the event to recognize the benefit to the community of all our first responder’s.
